About Agapé Corner
Agapé Corner is a Christian boarding school located in the heart of downtown Durham, North Carolina, that serves a diverse multi-ethnic student body. Founded initially in 1981 as a state-supported day care center, our ministry has since grown into an independent K-12 school. Some students come to our school for a short period of time, while others stay for years. Our work is funded by the generosity of private donors so that we can offer housing and schooling at no cost to the families we serve. Like Christ before us, we want to serve others freely.

Parents bring their children to Agapé Corner, so that they can learn God’s truth, acquire an excellent education, and prosper emotionally in a structured, family environment. Quite simply, they want to give their children a better life than they themselves have experienced. They do so knowing that we will care for their children with attention, care, and compassion. We have taken many children the world finds problematic: children with emotional problems, learning disabilities, or behavioral challenges, believing that God will help us restore them to wholeness.

What We Believe
We believe that Christ offers us hope, healing, and the one true path to salvation. We teach our children about Christianity using daily Bible studies to show the truth and relevance of his word to daily living. We model Christian behavior and decision making. And we serve as sounding boards, helping our children navigate a challenging world where morality is increasingly under attack.

Our Mission
Agapé Corner’s mission is to help broken children rebuild their lives. We believe that healing and new life are possible for all, even those who are most wounded. As we seek full spiritual, emotional, and intellectual restoration for the children at our school, we do so knowing that this happens only as we love them consistently and unconditionally, striving always to point them to the one who can “make all things new,” our savior Jesus Christ.

Our Vision
Agapé Corner’s vision is to rebuild the builders of the next generation. We believe that we have both a tremendous opportunity and a moral charge to model God’s love to our children and that by doing so, we can break the cultural and generational patterns that have bound his children in sin and sadness. We want to raise children full of life, love, and purpose, so that they can help others find the redemption and calling that is possible through God’s love.
